28 new A/C buses for express transport corporation

Chennai Transport Officials have informed that 28 new air-conditioned buses will be added before end March to the Express Transport
Corporation for the benefit of the public especially during hot summer.
On behalf of Tamil Nadu Government Express Transport Corporation, around 1200 express buses are run to place like Trichy, Madurai, Thirunelveli, Coimbatore, Thanjavur, and Nagercoil.
Out of this, 450 express buses operate from Chennai.One lakh passengers travel daily in these buses.
Just for some relief during the hot summer for public, air-conditioned buses are being introduced.
On this regard, Transport Corporation Officials informed that there was a gradual reduction in the number of air-conditioned express buses with the Corporation. The main reason for this is that the maintenance costs of air-conditioned buses are much higher than the normal buses.
Currently, 22 air-conditioned buses are operating. Before the end of March, 28 more air-conditioned buses will be added. This would be extremely beneficial for the passengers undertaking travel in the hot summer.
