Maruti bags six top spots in vehicle sales for January 2016

Maruti Suzuki is placed first in the domestic passenger vehicle market. Six of its models are features in the top 10 brands in January as per the latest data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The top position went to the Maruti Suzuki Alto which sold 21462 units as compared to 22889 units last January. The premium hatchback Swift was the second best selling models with sales of 14057 units as against 19669 units last year.
The new additions to the list are Hyundai`s Creta and Eon, Honda`s Amaze and Mahindra`s Bolero. The Creta was part of the top ten with a sale of 6589 units in January.
Coming in at third place in the list is Maruti`s compact sedan D`Zire. Sales of this model were 14042 units against 18155 units last year. The Wagon R came in at fourth place with a sale of 12744 units compared to 12861 units last year.
The other two Maruti cars were the premium hatchback Baleno at eighth place with sale of 7698 units; and compact car Celerio at ninth place with a sale of 7141 units.
Hyundai`s Grand i10 was in fifth spot, one up from fifth last year with a sale of 9934 units compared to 8724 last year.
