Google Photos to take over from Picasa

Google has announced that it will be shutting down its Picasa service. It will, instead, shift focus on to the Google Photos service that was recently launched.
In a blog post, a senior official from Google Photos said, We believe we can create a much better experience by focusing on one service that provides more functionality and works across mobile and desktop, rather than divide our efforts across two different products. Pictures or videos in Picasa online albums will be automatically available in people`s Google Photos accounts.
Those who want to stay with Picasa will still be able to view, delete or download photos in Picasa albums, but they cannot add new photos. Also, the Picasa software will not have further updates.
The blog post also said, We apologise for any inconvenience this transition causes, but we want to assure you that we are doing this with the aim of providing the best photos experience possible. Google Photos is a new and smarter product.
