Aadhar card distribution gathers pace in TN

Works to take photographs of Aadhar card applicants have been on the go since November 2011. The works are carried out by the census department in India. In Tamil Nadu, all the district collectors and Corporation officials are extending their support to get these tasks done smoothly.
 
In an aim to provide Aadhar card to everyone above five years of age, photographs of those aging above 5 are being taken. There are 647 centres functioning in Tamil Nadu where these photos are taken. Apart from this, special camps are also being conducted for these procedures. So far, these photos are taken for about 6,37,70,000 individuals in Tamil Nadu.
 
Speaking about this, the Associate Commissioner of census department, Krishnarav said the department had plans to wrap up these works by December 2015. However, the deadline is extended to March 2016. Official announcement about the same is expected shortly.
 
So far, 6,37,70,000 individuals are photographed in Tamil Nadu. Of these, Aadhar cards are distributed to 5,75,84,000 individuals. Works to take photographs are over by 88.89 percent and that of card distribution is done by 79.82 percent.
 
As far as Chennai city is concerned, 84 percent of the people are photographed and 65 percent are distributed with the cards. In Tamil Nadu, maximum works are completed in Perambalur district and the least is done at Tirupur where just 64.98 percent works are done.
 
Nellore stands first with maximum number of Aadhar card distribution with 87.51 percent of the work done. Special camps are set up at places that require more photographs to be taken. Nearly 1200 computer operators are well trained for the job. Furthermore, there are other employees to verify these Aadhar cards at doorsteps.
 
After heavy rainfall in Chennai, works for Aadhar card distribution is gradually gathering pace now. A special camp was held at C.S.I Christu Nagar, Kodungayur yesterday. There were above 300 individuals who applied for Aadhar card in the camp. Necessary arrangements for the same were done by Pastor, Augustin Andrews, Secretary Isac, Treasurer, Isravel and Counselor David Gnyanasekaran.
