Sabarimalai Sri Swamy ayyappan Temple Devaswam Board has announced that after the occasion of Makara Jyoti, Ghee Avhishekham (divine bath for the Lord with clarified butter) will be preformed till 19th January. The temple corridors are scheduled to be closed on 21st January.
For this year 2016, Makara Jyoti Darshan is scheduled on 15th January.
Ghee Abhishekham is to performed on 19th January. On 19th January, Maligaipuram Kurudhi is scheduled.
At 7.00 AM on 20th January, Bandhanam will be performed. After that, the temple corridors will be closed in front of King`s representative.
This is as per the schedule listed & released by Thiruvidhangur Devaswam Board for the year 2016.
In this scenario, the Devaswam has made some changes in the schedules and some events when the temple corridors remain open.
As per the revised schedule:
Ghee Abhishekham will be performed on 19th January till 9.30 AM.
After the temple corridors are opened on 20th January morning, the usual poojas such as Usha Pooja, Ucha Pooja, and Athaazha P{ooja will be performed. However, Ghee Abhishekham & Kanaka Abhishekham will not be perfomed on this day.
Devotees will be allowed for Darshan till 10.00 PM when the temple corridors will be closed.
During the night, Kurudhi Poojai will be performed at the Malaigaipuram.After this, devotees will not be allowed for Darshan. The temple corridors will be opened by 5.00 AM on 21st January.
After Abhishekham & Ganapathy Homam are performed, the temple corridors will be closed in the presence of King`s representative.
The revised schedule has resulted in the temple corridors being open for 1 more day after Makara vilakku occasion.
