Flood relief fund to be transferred today

The relief fund will be transferred to over 14 lakh families today and the amount is likely to reach their respective bank accounts tomorrow. Remaining families will receive the amount on 11th of this month, said Chief Minister, J. Jayalalitha.

In a report rolled out regarding this, she has stated that relief fund of Rs 4 lakh is given to families that have lost lives; Rs 5000 for those who lost their houses and an additional amount of Rs 5000 as special relief fund along with 10 kg rice, a dhothi and a saree. Those whose houses have got affected in rainfall will receive Rs 5000, 10 kg rice, a dhothi and a saree. A compensation of Rs 30000 will be given to those who have lost livestock, for loss of goats and pigs, the compensation is Rs 3000, and for hens, it is Rs 100.

Rs 13,500 will be provided for agricultural land cultivating rice. For other crops, the compensation will be RS 7410 per hectare. For perennial crops, it is Rs 18000.

For completely damaged deck wood, it is Rs 32,000 and for partially affected ones, it is Rs 10,000. For fully damaged FRP boat, a 50 percent subsidy equivalent to a funding of RS 75,000 will be provided. For partially affected ones, it is Rs 20,000.

For motorized boats, 35 percent subsidy will be given as per which Rs 5 lakh financial aid will be provided. A 60 percent subsidized repairing services will be offered to motorized boats that are partially damaged. As per this, financial aid of Rs 3 lakh will be provided.

For damage of net, and external machineries attached, the price is Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Due to northeast monsoon rainfall, 49 individuals have lost their lives between 1st October 2015 and 27th October 2015. Between 28th October and 31st December 2015, due to reasons like devastated walls, electric shock, drowning in water, etc, 421 lives are lost.

Of these, 245 families will receive Rs 4 lakh financial aid. And the remaining families will receive in another few days.
