As per the request made by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalithaa to the central government to allocate 500 tons of Bengal-gram to Tamil Nadu, the same has been supplied and reached Tamil Nadu.
This stock is being sold at Rs. 110/- per kg in all cooperative stores.
Following this, the price of Bengal-gram has started falling in the open-market as well.
As on today, Tuesday, 3rd November, the price of a bag of Bengal-gram has come down to Rs. 1500/- per bag. So, 1st quality Bengal-gram is sold at Rs. 130/- per kg. Bengal-gram sold in packets costs Rs. 140/- per kg.
2nd quality Bengal-gram is sold at Rs. 108/- per kg; 2nd quality Bengal-gram sold in packets costs Rs. 120/- per kg.
A trader from Ayanavaram, Chennai informed that there are bright prospects of Bengal-gram prices falling further to become even cheaper than the government shop rates.
