Additional trains for ensuing Deepavali festival - Chennai Metro authorities

With Southern Railway having announced running 12  special trains on the festive occasion of Deepavali, Chennai Metro Rail authorities have also announced additional train services as per demand.
 
With only a few days to go for Deepavali occasion, large number of public is visiting Chennai. When there is an excess rush during the morning & evening peak-hours of traffic, Chennai Metro Rail has proposed to run additional trains as per demand.
 
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalithaa inaugurated the Chennai Metro Service between Alandur & Koyambedu on 29th June.
 
As per the current time-schedule, the first train will start at 6.00 AM from both stations. On Sundays, the first train from both stations arrive at 8.00 AM.  The last train leaves Alandur & Koyambedu stations at 10.00 PM. Between 9.00 AM & 11.00 AM and 5.00 PM to 8.00 PM, trains are run at 10 minutes interval. During other times, trains are run at 15 minutes interval.
 
With ensuing Deepavali and the expected extra public rush, Chennai Metro rail has proposed to run additional trains.
 
Chennai Metro Rail authorities explained that based on the demand due to public rush, they will change the time-schedules and will start running trains from early mornings and till late night even after 10.00 PM
