Mild tremors were felt in Chennai

Mild tremors were felt yesterday in some places in Chennai. Some of the people who were staying in apartments came rushing down.
A major 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck in the Hindu Kush Mountains in Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan on Monday afternoon, cutting a swath of death and destruction in both countries.
Mild tremors were felt in some parts of the city in the wake of a powerful earthquake that measured 7.5 m in the Richter scale, rattled Afghanistan and Pakistan today.
The tremors were felt in Nandanam, Foreshore Estate, Nungambakkam, Kodambakkam and Ambattur.
In one of 9 storied building at Kodambakkam, an IT office is located. More than 600 people are employed there. At about 2.40 P M there was a sudden tremor. The employees who felt the tremor rushed out and came to the ground floor. The employees contacted their families and said that they were safe. After 30 minutes they went up and resumed their work.
