At a time when the dal prices have skyrocketed to Rs 190 per kilo in retail outlets, the Central Government has decided to import 2000 tonnes on the occasion of festive season. Commerce minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Wednesday that Government will import another 2,000 ton of pulses as part of its efforts to bring down prices. This will be in addition to 5,000 ton lying at the ports and another 2,000 ton of pulses that are in transit.
To control pulses prices in other states, imported dal has been allocated to states as per their request. Allocations to Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have been made.
