Banks gear up for long weekend

Banks will be on leave for four consecutive days from Thursday, October 22 to Sunday, October 25, if Friday, October 23 is also declared a holiday. Thursday is Vijayadashami, Saturday is the fourth Saturday of the month (a monthly holiday) and of course Sunday.
When such an instance occurs, the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) normally declares one of the days in between as a working day. In this particular case, Friday has not been declared a holiday as yet.
Banks across the country have made arrangements to keep the businesses above water. Internet and mobile banking have been leveraged to minimise any inconvenience to customers. Those who require bank visits for their transactions may be the only people who may face a delay in their work.
Speaking about this, an official from Axis Bank said, Our mobile app and internet banking platforms have been augmented to allow customers to complete most of their transactions and service needs 24X7 without having to visit a branch. We also understand that during the festive season, customers would have the requirement of cash. Hence, adequate arrangements have been made to ensure that customers cash needs are met from our ATMs.
