Open house discussion on call drops

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is planning on conducting an open house discussion on October 1st. This discussion will focus on call drops. However, the telecom watchdog did not extend the date that was fixed for sending comments on its consultation paper that it had prepared on the looming issue. The last date to send in the comments on compensation to customers who experience call drops is September 21. September 28 is the last date to send counter comments.
Many have approached TRAI, requesting them to extend the last date. Instead, it has decided to hold the open house after the two dates.
Experts and market watchers feel that TRAI will give its recommendations on the subject by mid October. It had earlier come out with a proposal which said that there will be no charges for calls dropped with five seconds. If calls are dropped any time after five seconds, the last pulse should not be charge
