Vinayaka Chaturthi in Chennai - Security to be beefed up

Vinayaka Chaturthi Festival is celebrated fervently by all Hindus. The festival falls on 17th of this month. Chennaites have decided to celebrate this festival in a grand manner. Police security is also being enhanced on the occasion of this festival. There will be Vinayaka Chaturthi festival procession in almost all the streets of Chennai. Elaborate arrangements are being made. The police have sought cooperation from various Hindu outfits for peaceful celebration of Vinayaka Chaturthi across Chennai.
A meeting will be chaired by the top police officials with representatives from various Hindu outfits. Idols installed in public places should be given proper protection and celebrations should not affect the common people. Security would be stepped up in Chennai from September 17 and would continue till the idols are immersed.
