Rs 500 is the most circulated currency in India

Rs 500 notes stand on top as the mostly in demand currency note in India. Then comes Rs 1000 holding second place in demand, says Assocham reports.
Nearly 46 percent of rupee notes are Rs 500 notes, 39.5 percent are Rs 1000 notes, and 10.5 percent are Rs 100 notes. These reports are given out on the basis of RBI data.
Coming on to notes of lesser value, Rs 20 notes are of lesser than 1 percent and Rs 50 notes are 1.2 percent.
During March 2013, the Rs 20 notes were of 5.2 percent which has come down to 0.6 percent in March 2015.
