Depression in Bay of Bengal - rains forecast for 2 days

A depression has formed in the Bay of Bengal in the region covering coastal Odisa, Andhra, and South Tamil Nadu. A convection cycle has formed in the higher layers in Arabian Sea in the region of Lakshadweep, and coastal Karnataka and coastal Kerala.

It has been raining heavily in Andhra due to this depression.

There will be heavy rains in the districts of Salem, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Thiruvallur in the next 24 hours. The rain may continue for 2 days in South Districts.

There will be heavy rains on Theni, Coimbatore, Nilgiri in the western Hills range. It has been announced that this will continue till tomorrow.

There was a slight drizzle in Chennai today (Monday, 7th September) this morning.  The weather has been cloudy. There may be rains in some places with lightning and thunder. Meteorological reports inform that this will bring down the intensity of heat experienced.

Sea waves will be forcefully active. The speed of the wind will also be on a high side.

Meteorological centre informs that due to the cyclic convection formed over the Arabian sea, there would be wide-spread rains in South Tamil Nadu and heavy rains in coastal Karnataka & Kerala, and North/south Karnataka. Rains would continue for 3 days till 9th September in Kerala & Karnataka.
