MTC launches new routes in Tambaram

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has introduced services on new routes around Tambaram. One such convenient route is the 18 P East Tambaram to Guindy Industrial Estate trail. Many commuters have welcomed the new routes. `It is useful for commuters to get to locations on this route as it is operated as ordinary service`, says one commuter.
Officials from MTC say that two buses are now in operation. They say that services will increased depending on patronage and revenue. According to the officials, a route on 251 A from T. Nagar to Agaramthen has been getting a good feedback. This route services commuters from Mappedu, Selaiyur and Tiruvanchery. last year, some of the routes on the Besant Nagar - ICF - Villivakkam section were reorganised to make it easier for commuters. The officials say that they take a field study in the designated area and the determine its necessity depending on the results. They, then, do a test run that lasts few weeks, before launching the new route officially.
Resident welfare associations have said that demands from commuters in Alandur and Nanganallur have to be addressed. These commuters have complained about the connectivity between their residences and the railway stations nearby.
