Resolution passed in Corporation meeting

In the recent Corporation council meeting, a resolution was passed to build a new commercial complex at a cost of Rs. 20 Crores. The meeting was conducted yesterday, Monday, 31st August. Mayor Md. Duraiswamy presided. Commissioner Mr. Vikram Kapur led the event.

The meeting commenced with a pledge to remove untouchability. Thanks and appreciation were given to Tamil Nadu state government for getting the best managed award for �Amma Unavagams�.

Then question-answer session started. Most of the councillors were not present when the meeting started. Discussions were taken up for the introduction of 76 resolutions.

ON resolution no. 68, AIADMK member MGR Vasan made a few remarks about Mr. Karunananidhi. The opposition party leader Subash Chandra Bose bjected to this and other DMK councillors also pressed their demands to remove this remark from the records.

However, mayor rejected this and there was some confusion. DMK members walked out citing there was no chance to discuss regarding the malpractices in Suvarnajeyanthi scheme.

Important resolutions passed in the meeting:

A new commercial complex and market will be constructed in Saidapet in the current old market place at a cost of Rs. 20 Crores.

Under the scheme �Teach India�, teachers from IITs & IIMs are conducting English medium classes in Chennai Corporation schools. Now, an additional fund of Rs. 3,56 Crores has been allotted to extend this scheme through 101 teachers in 31 corporation schools in the academic year 2015-16.

A new fish market will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 7.92 Crores on the Chennai Corporation Zone 13, ward 176, Kotturpuram Canal Bank Road. This will be followed by the remaining 14 zones to build fis markets.

As per the recommendations made by 4th Fiance Committee, the details ofall properties in Chennai will be collected and consolidated using the latest technology and then decide the property tax on these. This will be in order to increase the revenue of the corporation.

2169 tar roads &1958 cement roads totalling 4127 internal roads will be built at a cost of rs. 393 Crores in all the 15 zones of Chennai Corporation during 2015-16.

Approval has been asked for the proposal to set up science Laboratories in Chennai Corporation Higher schools to improve the science skills of the students in 9th & 10th Standards. Funds of Rs. 35.85 Lakhs have been asked. This mobile laboratory will have a team of 1 Head teacher and 10 graduate teachers.

A new arched bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.42 Crores across the Korattur lake excess water canal by destroying the present floor-level bridge near the Madanankuppam Main road.

Approval of funds of rs. 3.13 Crores allotted for rain water drain canal from Nandambakkam Thulasingapuram via ganapathy Colony till Adyar River.
