The duration of B.Ed and M.Ed studies are increased as 2 years. Hence, the committee of Judge N.V. Paul Subramanyan has decided to revise the fees structure of private universities offering the education stream.
In Tamil Nadu, there are 7 government colleges, 14 government aided colleges, and more than 650 private colleges and universities. The fee for B.Ed is Rs 2250 in government colleges, and Rs 10,000 in government aided colleges.
The fees structure for these government, government aided and private colleges is decided by a committee of members headed by retired judge N.V. Balasubramanian. The education fees for 2014-15 academic year is likely to be increased to Rs 46,500 in government aided colleges. In other colleges, the fee will be Rs 41,500 and for M.Ed, the fee will be Rs 47,500.
As per the recent orders by National Council for Teachers Education 2015-16, B.Ed studies will be made two years instead of one year, as ordered by the Tamil Nadu government as well. Hence, a fee revision was decided by Judge Balasubramanian in all colleges this academic year.
The Judge has also instructed all the colleges to share their views and comments on this issue on or before 31st of August 2015. Following the receipt of their views, the final call on revision of fee structure will be taken.
