Chennai Corporation will be very soon floating a tender to construct a new road linking K K Nagar and Ramapuram. The road will decongest other stretches in the neighbourhood. It will offer connectivity for residents of areas such as Ramapuram with K.K. Nagar, where a Metro Rail station has been commissioned.
The road will have wide footpaths, four metres on one side and two metres on the other. Trees along the stretch will not be removed for the project.
The project, estimated at Rs.2.75 crore, will include a newly-developed 60-ft-wide road connecting Lake View Road with Anna Main Road, storm water drains, footpaths and streetlights, permitting multi-storied buildings on the stretch. Buses are expected to be diverted to the road shortly. In addition to the new road, bottlenecks and encroachments in other narrow stretches in the area will be removed.
