Close on the heels of Google, Canadian company Bell Canada is offering internet at super fast speeds. Google had recently announced high speed internet for homes with a 1 GB/s bandwidth to be launched soon. However, Bell Canada is offering 1TB per second!
The company says that the service will be offered to 1.3 billion homes in and around Ontario and Quebec. The estimated speed to said to be 940 Mbps. This means that a a full HD movie can be downloaded in under a minute. The service is expected to expand to 2.2 million homes by the end of the year. Bell Canada has invested $1.14 billion into the project in Toronto.
The catch is that the service is offered at very high costs. At the moment a plan with 15 mbps bandwidth with a 50 GB monthly data cap will cost around $56. A plan without a data cap will cost $150. Users can pay $96 for 300 mbps for 750 GB of data. The Google offer is also expensive. If chosen, the user will pay $91 for a 1 GB connection.
