The current procedures for stopping certain services offered by mobile service providers are complicated. Hence, customers find it quite cumbersome to stop them.
There is no provision to stop data services.
TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has ordered the mobile service providers to immediately implement a new system: Dial `1925` call or send sms Stop OR Start to enable start or stop data services.
Smartphone users recharge their data service packages by selecting the different available packages 500 MB, 1 GB, and 2 GB. However, once this is used up, the mobile service companies take the money kept by the customer as recharge for talking facility. There are several customers who have lost hundreds of Rupees in a single day.
Because of this, TRAI has made some immediate changes.
As per this, mobile service providers must inform their clients once the package recharge for data services gets exhausted. They must not take money kept for other services from the client without approval.
