Registered users of the newly released Windows 10 in India now have an update. Windows 10 was released by Microsoft last month. The company also announced that Windows 7 and 8 users will receive a free upgrade. Those who have enrolled for the free upgrade will see a Windows 10 icon on the notification bar.
As on date, more than 14 million users have installed and upgraded to the new software. Finally, users in India will be able to avail the facility. What the user requires is a licensed Windows 7 or 8 operating system. Important updates for the current OS also need to be installed. This will enable free upgrade.
However, the new operating system requires a huge amount of data. The installation files are 2.7 GB. It is recommended that the user have a good unlimited broadband connection with good speed. It took users 25 minutes to download the files on a 50 Mbps bandwidth. Depending on the computer`s configuration, upgrading will be take another 1.5 to 2 hours.
If the user wishes to download Windows 10 and install it after a while, he may need to download Microsoft`s Media Creation Tool. This will download the operating system and create an ISP file. The user may burn a DVD later or create a YSB bootable insulation drive on the fly. If opting for the latter, the user will need an 8 GB flash drive.
