Initiative to access Facebook with free internet

Facebook is working on an initiative that will enable users to access the social networking site`s mobile site with free internet. The move comes in the wake of the company`s introducing its application in 17 developing countries.
A Facebook executive has written a blog post in which the initiative was announced. According to the post, it said that it will "open a portal allowing any mobile operator to offer the service under its Internet.org platform... Over the past year, the service had bought new users onto mobile networks on average over 50 per cent faster and that more than half the people using Internet.org are paying for data to access the wider Internet within 30 days... Internet.org has been embraced as a pro-connectivity initiative that has garnered a lot of support."
Facebook has developed Internet.org along with six other technology partners. The initiate aims to bring together an estimated 4.5 billion people. The markets are mainly in Latin America, Asia and Africa.
