MORE MEDICAL COLLEGES FOR THE STATE

Surgut Singh Barnala,Governor announced in the assembly that the Government has in principle approved the setting up of Three new medical colleges, an agriculture college, a separate university for horticulture, a university for Indian medicine and Homoeopathy and five arts and science college will be set up in the State. The new medical colleges would be opened at Ramanathapuram, Cuddalore and Dindigul to fulfill the objective of having a medical college in each district.
The agricultural college will come at Kivelur in Nagapattinam to cater to the students from the districts of Cauvery delta such as Tiruvarur, Thanjavur and Nagapattinam. A separate university for horticulture, a University of Indian medicine and Homoeopathy has been planned in Krishnagiri and Kanyakumari respectively this year
Arts and Science Colleges have been proposed to be established at Namely in Kancheepuram district, Nagalapuram in Thoothukudi district, Harur in Dharmapuri district, Kallakurichi in Villupuram district, and Tiruchuli in Virudhunagar district.
Tamilnadu ranks Fifth in Educational Development in the country as per the report of the National University for Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) in 2008-09, and as per NCERT survey of 2008 the Tamilnadu school students are the first in Maths and language skills, the Governor said.
