Governor announces the establishment of Mega Science city in Chennai Metro Rail routes being taken up in the second phase has been announced by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala in his address to the Assembly session in Chennai on Friday. A study is underway to link Moolakkadai-Thirumangalam, Moolakkadai-Thiruvanmiyur and Luz-Poonamallee through Iyyappanthangal. The governor said that the extension project, up to Tiruvottiyur is taken at an estimated cost of Rs 3,001 crore.
The government has planned to set up a world-class Mega Science City in Chennai by integrating and synergizing the expertise and resources available in more than 69 institutions of advanced research institutions such as Anna University and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The Governor said that the s Science City will aim to be a pristine centre, to facilitate higher scientific research to. A government arts and science college has been planned to come on Rajiv Gandhi Road (OMR) at Nemmeli in Kancheepuram district.
