Ground water level in precarious conditions

Though the summer is slowly dying down Chennaites are battling for water because of the drastic water catastrophe. In many suburbs of Chennai the ground water level has dipped and some are forced to sink new borewells burning the pockets. Though sinking a borewells is a good solution to this water crisis, the cost factor is more. A borewell 200-feet deep cost around Rs75, 000.
The only solution to this is intensive rainwater harvesting and revival of lakes will help the residents. Authorities should ensure that sewage is not let into the lakes. These water bodies should be used to store rainwater.
