Construction work for building �Yathri Nivas� (lodges for pilgrims) at the Temples of Thiruvannamalai & Rameswaram commences!

To facilitate the stay of the pilgrims who vist, a project of building ďż˝Yathri Nivasďż˝ (Pilgrimsďż˝ lodge) has been taken up to accommodate up to 500 devotees at the famous temples of Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleeswara & Rameswaram Ramantha Swamy.

The construction activities are scheduled to start in a short period of time.

�Yathri Nivas� at Srirangam:

Religious Board officials informed that most of the devotees who come to have a Darshan of the God as a part of their penance (nerthi kadan in Tamil) in the early morning and need to stay in the previous night in the temple area.

Such staying arrangements are already available at famous temples like Thiruchendur & Pazhani.

Further, cottages/ rooms/ dormitories for the benefit of the 100 pilgrims have been constructed at a cost of Rs, 47.09 Crores in some of the famous temples like Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, Thiruvanaikkaval �Akilandeswari-sametha-Jambukeswara temple, and Samayapuram Sri Mariamman temple and are in service.

Similar arrangements to accommodate 500 pilgrims are being taken up at the temples of Thurvannamalai Sri Arunchaleeswara temple & Rameswaram Sri Ramanathaswamy temple by building �Yathri Nivas�. Construction activities are about to start.

Manasarovar

Erstwhile Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had ordered to release payments of Rs. 40000/- to the pilgrims visiting Manasarovar in China and Rs. 10000/- to the pilgrims visiting Mukthinath Temple in Nepal.

Accordingly, financial assistance of Rs. 58.40 Lakhs was paid to 146 pilgrims who visited Manasarovar during 2012-13. Rs. 1 Lakh was paid to 10 pilgrims who visited Mukthinath temple during the same period.

For the pilgrims who visited Mansarovar & Mukthinath during 2013-14, payment of Rs. 84.70 Lakhs will be made shortly.

Applications are invited from pilgrims on their plans to visit during 2014-15.

Puja Equipment

To facilitate conducting regular Poojas at smaller temples, Pooja equipment such as Brass tray (Pithalai thambalam), Dhoobakkal (utensil to offer incense), Bell (bell to be rung at the time of Pooja), Karthigai Lamps (for lighting the sanctum sanctorum), and hanging lamps (like chandeliers) will be given at a cost of Rs. 2.14 Crores.

The funds for providing this is taken from the exces funds available at temples with better financial position and the items are being procured from Tamil Nadu Poompuhar Crafts Centre. They will be sent to the respective temples as soon as ready.
