Karthigai Deepam festival from today

The 10-day Karthigai Deepam festival will begin on Wednesday with the hoisting of the holy flag. Every day the deities of Sri Arunachaleswarar temple would be taken out in a procession along the Mada Streets. On the 7th day deities would be taken out in a procession in exquisite wooden cars. On December 5, Mahadeepam would be lit on the Tiruvannamalai hills. About a million devotees would be performing circumambulation of the hill.
