Onion cultivation to be encouraged by the Tamil Nadu State Government
The state government will encourage cultivation of Bellary onion on 5,000 acres in the state, with the help of identified groups of farmers. Agriculture minister Agri S S Krishnamurthy said the government would allocate Rs 2.4 crore for the initiative, which would help meet the demand within the state. A lemon research station will be set up in Sankarankoil in Tirunelveli district at Rs 4 crore, he said.
