Plan for allotment of general account number for future Provident Fund Subscribers
The Provident Fund Commission has planned to allot general account numbers for all future subscribers who will start subscribing when they enter their jobs.
In the first stage, general account number for the existing subscribers will be given from 15th October.
This general PF subscriber account number will be linked to Aadhar cards and the income-tax related PAN (Permanent Account Number). The PF Commission has announced that This will make this account number most secure.
Currently, there are 11.78 Crore members in the Provident Fund Subscription. 3.1 Crore individuals are currently subscribing.
