Cyclone Senyar Likely to Form; Heavy Rain Alert for Tamil Nadu

A low-pressure area is expected to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal on November 22, according to the Chennai Meteorological Centre. The system may move west–northwest and intensify into a well-marked low pressure on November 24, with a chance of strengthening into Cyclone ‘Senyar’.
From Nov 22 to 27, moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Heavy rain is expected in districts including Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and Cuddalore.
Chennai may see moderate thunderstorms and showers on Saturday.
