Special EMU Trains Announced for Deepavali Rush at Kilambakkam Bus Terminus
With thousands of passengers expected to travel through the Kilambakkam Bus Terminus during the Deepavali season, the Chennai Division of Southern Railway has announced special EMU suburban train services to handle the festive rush.
To ease congestion at Tambaram and ensure smooth travel toward Kilambakkam, three special EMU passenger trains will operate between Tambaram and Guduvancheri on October 17 (Friday). These trains will depart Tambaram at 7.45 pm, 8.10 pm, and 8.35 pm, stopping at Perungalathur, Vandalur, and Urapakkam before terminating at Guduvancheri.
For the post-Diwali return journey, Southern Railway has arranged six additional EMU special services between Kattangulathur and Tambaram on October 22 (Wednesday). These early-morning trains, scheduled between 4.00 am and 6.25 am, aim to clear the heavy influx of returning passengers. Each train will also have a five-minute halt at Potheri to facilitate convenient boarding for commuters from nearby suburbs.
The special arrangements are part of Southern Railway’s efforts to provide a smooth and safe travel experience for passengers during the Deepavali festive season.
