Appasamy Associates and Vision 2020 India Promote Eye Care Awareness in Chennai

Appasamy Associates Private Limited (AAPL), in association with Vision 2020: The Right to Sight, India, organised World Sight Day 2026 awareness initiatives in Chennai, focusing on preventive eye care, early detection and timely treatment.

The programme featured the launch of an eye-care awareness video with former Indian cricketer and Vision 2020 India Goodwill Ambassador K. Srikanth, highlighting glaucoma awareness and eye donation.

More than 350 participants, including ITI students, AAPL and Vision 2020 teams and 53 visually impaired volunteers from Nethrodaya Social Service Institution, took part in a human chain to promote cornea donation. An eye screening camp screened over 400 community members, encouraging timely professional consultation.

The event also included discussions on cornea donation, disability equality and key challenges in eye care, along with the announcement of Vision 2020 India’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Guru Dronacharya Award.
