Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert for Several Districts on October 14 and 15

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast moderate rain, thunderstorms and lightning in several parts of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Heavy rainfall is also likely in isolated locations across southern districts, including Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari.

Chennai Weather Forecast for October 14

Chennai is expected to experience generally cloudy skies on Wednesday, with a maximum temperature of around 36°C and a minimum temperature of approximately 27°C.

Moderate rain, thunderstorms and lightning are likely in isolated areas of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Karaikal.

Heavy Rain Alert for Southern Tamil Nadu

The weather department has forecast heavy rain at isolated places, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, in Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari on October 14.

The rainfall activity is associated with an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal off southern Sri Lanka and an easterly trough extending towards the central Bay of Bengal.

Tamil Nadu Rain Forecast for October 15

On Thursday, October 15, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph is likely at isolated places in the Ghat areas of Tenkasi and Tirunelveli, as well as Kanniyakumari, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Pudukkottai and Nagapattinam districts.

Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Expected Until October 19

According to the forecast, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph are expected to continue across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal until October 19.
