Tiruchendur Murugan Temple to Enforce Strict Mobile Phone Ban from July 1

Devotees visiting the renowned Arulmigu Subramania Swamy Temple in Tiruchendur will not be permitted to carry mobile phones inside the temple premises from July 1, as authorities move to strictly implement a Madras High Court order prohibiting their use within the temple.

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department announced that although the mobile phone ban has technically been in force since November 14, 2022, stricter enforcement measures will now be introduced at all entry points to ensure complete compliance.

Tiruchendur Murugan Temple, one of the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan, attracts thousands of devotees every day. To maintain the sanctity of the temple and adhere to the court directive, authorities have intensified security and screening procedures.

According to temple officials, devotees entering through general darshan queues, Rs 100 special darshan lines, as well as dedicated queues for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, will undergo thorough screening before being allowed inside the temple complex.

The decision follows a directive issued by the Madras High Court banning the use of mobile phones within the temple premises. Officials stated that the enhanced checks are aimed at ensuring that devotees comply with the regulations and that the spiritual atmosphere of the temple is preserved.

Temple authorities have advised devotees to make necessary arrangements for storing their mobile phones before arriving at the temple and to cooperate with security personnel during the screening process.

The strict enforcement is expected to improve crowd management and ensure a peaceful worship experience for devotees visiting the famous Tiruchendur Murugan Temple.
