Tiruchendur Murugan Temple Introduces Darshan Time Restrictions, Devotees Express Concern

Devotees visiting the Tiruchendur Subramaniya Swamy Temple, the second of Lord Murugan`s six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu), have expressed concern following the introduction of new time restrictions for darshan. The temple witnesses a steady rise in the number of pilgrims every day, with devotees using the general darshan, ₹100 special darshan, and senior citizen queues to offer prayers.

In recent weeks, devotees have experienced longer waiting times, largely due to the closure of the Shanmuga Vilasam Mandapam with iron grill gates. As a result, pilgrims in both the general and paid darshan queues have had to wait for several hours to have darshan of the deity.

Adding to the inconvenience, the temple administration has introduced new darshan timings without prior public notice. According to the newly displayed announcement, devotees in the ₹100 special darshan queue will be permitted entry only until 6:30 PM, while those in the general darshan queue will be allowed until 7:00 PM. The notice also states that darshan timings may vary on festival days and public holidays.

Previously, on regular days, devotees were generally allowed to have darshan from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The sudden implementation of these time restrictions has come as a surprise to many pilgrims, with several expressing disappointment over the reduced darshan hours and the lack of prior intimation.
