EPFO to Introduce UPI Based PF Withdrawals from Next Month

The Employees` Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to introduce a UPI based Provident Fund (PF) withdrawal facility from next month. The service, which was delayed due to technical issues, is expected to be launched during the first week of August after key system-related problems are resolved.

EPFO has been implementing its Centralised IT Enabled System (CITES 2.01) to modernise its digital services and support UPI-based PF withdrawals. However, after the launch of the new platform, several members reported technical issues, including missing data from older PF accounts, login difficulties, slow website performance, and delays in processing claims.

Subscribers have also raised concerns over delays in claim settlements. Earlier, eligible PF claims were generally credited to bank accounts within three days. However, many users have recently reported waiting for several weeks without receiving their funds.

According to officials, EPFO is currently working on a priority basis to resolve all major technical issues. Once the system stabilises, the new UPI withdrawal facility will be rolled out.

The service will be integrated with the BHIM app, allowing PF subscribers to link their PF accounts with their bank accounts and receive eligible claim amounts instantly through UPI.
