₹414 Cr Kuthambakkam Bus Terminus Opening Delayed!

₹414 crore Kuthambakkam Bus Terminus, built to ease congestion at Koyambedu, has been fully ready for the past three months but remains unopened due to unresolved NH-48 access issues.

Spread across 24.8 acres, the new terminus features lounges, parking facilities, food courts and waiting areas, and is designed to handle 1,000 SETC/TNSTC buses and 400 private buses.

Officials are yet to resolve key road access concerns, including a sharp U-turn near the terminus entry. Meanwhile, buses to Bengaluru, Hosur and Krishnagiri continue operating from Koyambedu, adding pressure to Chennai’s western traffic corridors.

Bus operators have also expressed concern over poor MTC and rail connectivity to the new terminus, warning that passengers may increasingly depend on private vehicles.
