Drinking Water Connections to All Shops at Koyambedu Market

All shops at Chennai’s Koyambedu wholesale market will be provided with drinking water connections.

Speaking in the Assembly on Friday, Housing and Urban Development Minister P. Rajkumar said dedicated drinking water connections would be provided to each shop at a cost of ₹10 crore, responding to the long-standing demand of traders.

Considering the increasing number of consumers visiting the Koyambedu wholesale market and the traders’ demand for expansion, new shops will also be constructed at a cost of ₹7.50 crore on a 22,000 sq. ft. area between Blocks L, M and N of the vegetable market.

Auto Taxi App

To protect the livelihoods of auto and taxi drivers and ensure fair fares for passengers, an auto and taxi app with a digital meter will be developed and launched by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority.
