Chennai Metro Warns Passengers: Fine Up to ₹500 for Causing Disturbance

Chennai Metro Rail Limited has urged passengers to follow travel etiquette and ensure a peaceful journey for fellow commuters.

As per the Metro Rail (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002, Section 59, causing inconvenience or disturbance to other passengers is considered a punishable offense.

Passengers are specifically advised to avoid:

- Speaking loudly on mobile phones
- Playing music or videos without headphones
- Using mobile phones on speaker mode inside trains or metro premises

Such actions that create excessive noise or discomfort to others may lead to penalties.

According to the rules, violators can be fined up to ₹500. In certain cases, authorized officials may also remove passengers from metro premises.

The metro authorities have requested all commuters to use headphones and avoid loud conversations or speaker mode usage to maintain a comfortable and respectful travel environment for everyone.
