The Higher Education Department of Tamil Nadu has announced the Chief Minister Research Fellowship (CMRF) 2024, aimed at supporting 180 meritorious scholars pursuing full-time Ph.D. programmes for a maximum of three years.
Allocation of Fellowships
- 60 scholars – Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
- 60 scholars – Science (Government & Government-Aided Colleges)
- 20 scholars – Engineering (Government/Government-Aided/Anna University Departments & Constituent Colleges)
- 20 scholars – Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences & Sciences (Departments of State Universities under Higher Education Department)
- 20 scholars – Agriculture, Veterinary, Fisheries, Education, Atmospheric Science, Oceanography (State Universities)
Fellowship Benefits
- Monthly Fellowship: ₹25,000
- Annual Contingency Grant:
- ₹10,000 for Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences
- ₹12,000 for other streams
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a native of Tamil Nadu
- Must hold a Postgraduate degree from a UGC-recognized institution in Tamil Nadu
- Final-semester PG students may also apply (subject to passing their PG programme)
- Minimum 60% marks in PG (with 5% relaxation for SC/ST/Differently Abled/Women candidates)
Selection Process
- Selection will be based on the CMRF Eligibility Test, conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), along with CMRF norms.
