Tamil Nadu Government School Teachers Receive Three-Day Training on New Textbooks for Classes 1 to 3

As part of preparations for the 2026-27 academic year, a three-day training programme on the revised school curriculum and new textbooks was conducted for government school teachers handling Classes 1 to 3 in the St. Thomas Mount Panchayat Union.

The training sessions were organised at two centres — Valluvar Gurukulam Primary School in Tambaram and ISA Pallavaram Primary School. Around 300 teachers from various government schools across the union participated in the programme.

The initiative aimed to familiarize teachers with the newly introduced curriculum, updated textbooks, innovative teaching methodologies, and expected learning outcomes for students. The training was designed to help educators effectively implement the revised syllabus in classrooms from the beginning of the new academic year.

During the programme, teachers were provided guidance on student-centred learning approaches, classroom engagement techniques, activity-based teaching methods, and strategies to improve foundational literacy and numeracy among young learners.

The revised curriculum has been introduced in line with the recommendations of Tamil Nadu`s State Education Policy and is expected to strengthen foundational education for primary school students across the State.

Chengalpattu District Chief Educational Officer R. Thiruvalarchelvi visited both training centres and interacted with participating teachers. The official reviewed the training activities, encouraged teachers to adopt innovative teaching practices, and emphasized the importance of ensuring quality education through effective implementation of the new curriculum.

Education Department officials stated that such orientation programmes play a crucial role in equipping teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully deliver the updated curriculum and improve learning outcomes for students in government schools.

With Tamil Nadu schools reopening for the 2026-27 academic year, trained teachers are now prepared to introduce the revised textbooks and learning methods to students in Classes 1 to 3.
