Liquor Sale Prohibited in Chennai on Thiruvalluvar Day and Republic Day | TASMAC & Bars Closed
Under the Tamil Nadu Liquor Retail Vending Rules and the Tamil Nadu Liquor Rules, all liquor retail outlets and bars in Chennai district must remain closed on Friday (Thiruvalluvar Day) and Monday, January 26 (Republic Day).
As per the official order, the ban applies to all categories of licensed liquor outlets, and sale of liquor is strictly prohibited on both days.
Liquor Shops and Bars to Remain Closed
The mandatory closure includes:
- All TASMAC (FL-1) retail liquor shops
- Bars attached to TASMAC outlets
- Bars attached to FL-2 licensed clubs
- Bars attached to FL-3 licensed hotels
- All bars holding FL-3A, FL-3AA, and FL-11 licences
Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against license holders and establishments found violating the liquor ban order.
The public and licensees are advised to strictly comply with the government directive.
