The Higher Education department would be establishing an exclusive UAV or unmanned aerial vehicle training centres in the government polytechnic colleges across Tamil Nadu. The reason for this is due to the huge demand for UAV across the industries.
Thousands of students study in the 54 government polytechnic colleges in TN. At present, there are no proper training centres for UAV in these polytechnic colleges. This was according to a senior officer from the higher education department. He added that there are plans to set up UAV training centres in these colleges to empower students with deep knowledge and skills to operate drones safely. Innovative applications would also be explored by the students and they would be made to contribute towards latest development in aerial technology.
Initially, 5 government polytechnic colleges in TN would be selected for establishing UAV training centres. Information gathered is that each centre would be developed at a cost of Rs 50 lakhs and TN govt would allocate Rs 2.5 cr for this.
The innovative hub that would be present in the U training centres would encourage the students to explore new ideas for further advancement in the present drone technology. The diploma students would be able to carry out drone related research projects to get more theoretical knowledge and gain practical experience.
On official drone rules, regulations and ethical considerations etc, experts would provide in-depth knowledge to the students. The senior official later explained about thorough manoeuvring, drone control and taking accurate aerial photography etc that would be present in the practical session.
