32000 applications received for MBBS/BDS courses - Inauguration of mental health programme in Chennai for the students!!
For the undergraduate medical and dental courses in TN, 32000 applications have been received now. This was mentioned by the health minister Mr. M. Subramanian.
Yesterday, the health minister was busy inaugurating the mental health counselling programme (for students who have written NEET exam) at 108 service centre in the DMS campus in Teynampet in Chennai.
He spoke about how ever since the DMK government took charge in TN 104 medical information centres have been established and the govt also started providing mental health counselling for those students who have not qualified in NEET exam. Apart from mental health counselling, advice has been provided to the students regarding what to study for the sake of their future.
In 2025, as many as 135715 students have appeared for NEET exam in Tamil Nadu and of those as many as 76181 students have passed and 59534 have not passed NEET. There are only 11850 seats available for UG Medical courses in 75 medical colleges across TN. The rest have the opportunity to join other courses like dentistry, nursing and paramedical courses etc.
Point is that 32000 applications have been received for the undergraduate courses in medical and dental fields etc in Tamil Nadu now. Counselling would be conducted as soon as the Union govt makes an announcement.
Other important personalities who made their presence felt during the event were secretary of dept of medicine and public welfare Mr. Senthilkumar, director of national welfare group Mr. Arunthamburaj, Thousand Lights MLA Mr. Ezhilan Naganathan, DPH Dr. T. Selvavinayagam plus others.
