Vandalur Zoo to Reopen Tomorrow After Bird Flu Precautions

The Arignar Anna Zoological Park will reopen to visitors on October 25, 2026, following temporary closure after bird flu was detected among aquatic birds at the zoo.

According to an official press release, the zoo administration has completed extensive disinfection work and implemented the necessary precautionary measures to prevent the spread of infection.

Bird Flu Tests Conducted on Zoo Employees

On October 22, medical examinations were conducted for zoo employees. A total of 26 samples were collected from animal keepers directly involved in animal care and tested for influenza virus infection.

The test results confirmed that all 26 samples were negative for influenza virus infection.

Disinfection and Safety Measures

The zoo administration has carried out extensive disinfection across the premises and implemented the required biosecurity and disease-prevention measures in accordance with established guidelines.

The administration stated that it remains committed to protecting animal health and welfare while ensuring the safety of visitors and employees.

With these precautionary measures completed, visitors will be allowed back into Vandalur Zoo from October 25.
