Chennai - Arakkonam AC Electric Train Service to Begin on October 23
A new air-conditioned suburban electric train service between Avadi, Chennai Central and Arakkonam is scheduled to begin on October 23, 2026. According to Southern Railway, the service will operate on a trial basis until December 24, offering passengers an additional travel option on weekdays.
AC Suburban Train Service Details
The 12-coach air-conditioned electric train will operate five days a week, from Monday to Friday. After the trial period, Southern Railway will review the service based on the assessment report before deciding whether to extend its operation.
Chennai - Arakkonam AC Train Timings
The train service will operate in both directions, connecting Avadi, Arakkonam and Chennai Central at different times throughout the day.

Trial Service Until December 24
The AC suburban electric train will run on a trial basis from October 23 to December 24, 2026. The continuation of the service beyond this period will depend on the findings of the trial assessment.
