Chennai Weather: Light Rain Expected in City and Neighbouring Districts

Chennai is likely to receive light showers during the evening and night hours, with the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasting scattered rainfall over the city and neighbouring areas in the coming days.

A thick cloud band over Chennai and nearby districts brought scattered light to moderate rain on Saturday. The RMC has forecast further light showers in Chennai on Sunday.

Chennai Rain Forecast

According to the RMC, light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal until August 14.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation over north coastal Tamil Nadu, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, is influencing the weather conditions.

A developing weather system over the northwest Bay of Bengal could also result in wind convergence and bring additional scattered rain to Chennai over the next few days.

Chennai Temperature Forecast

Maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to remain near normal on Sunday.

Temperatures could be 2–3°C above normal at isolated locations in north interior Tamil Nadu, while remaining close to average in other areas until August 12.
