₹77.29 Crore Worth Gold & Silver Seized in Chennai During Vehicle Check

In Chennai, the Election Commission’s flying squad seized gold and silver jewellery worth ₹77.29 crore during a vehicle check.
The incident took place in Ashok Nagar under the T Nagar Assembly constituency on the night of March 26. Officials found around 381 kg of jewellery being transported in a vehicle.
During inquiry, the driver claimed the ornaments were shifted to another vehicle after the original one broke down. However, since proper documents were not produced, the squad confiscated the valuables.
