Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Light Rain Forecast in Southern Coastal Areas Till March 16
The India Meteorological Department has forecast light rainfall in the southern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu until March 16 due to a lower-level atmospheric circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre Chennai, a few places in south Tamil Nadu coastal districts may receive very light rain from March 12 to March 16. Meanwhile, most parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience dry weather conditions.
In Chennai and surrounding areas, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy.
The weather department also stated that maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may gradually increase by up to 2°C between March 12 and March 15.
During the 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, the highest rainfall was recorded at Tuticorin Airport with 70 mm of rain. Other areas that recorded rainfall include Thoothukudi (40 mm), Srivaikuntam (30 mm), Ramanathapuram (30 mm), Karaikal (20 mm), and Thiruvidaimarudur (20 mm).
